Orange County deputies had been searching for the distraught teenager, whose mother was killed by her ex-boyfriend, after deputies say he disappeared from the Central Florida Behavioral Center on Monday.

Chang's mother, 43-year-old Jorgete Acarie, was found shot to death in her Orange County home in August. Deputies arrested her ex-boyfriend Kristofer Gould and charged him with first-degree murder with a firearm.

Deputies said family members were very concerned about his well-being because the he has been dealing with some emotional problems after his mother's death.

Self said Chang left the facility with no money and only the clothes on his back. Self said Chang was sent to the behavioral center after he got into a fight at school on Friday.

"He had gotten into a fight at school and sent to the Juvenile Detention Facility. He expressed some irrational and confused thoughts," said Self. "I can't imagine the feelings that he's going through... I saw him the day after his mother was killed. I saw the emotions that were running through him. It's a lot to handle for anyone."
