Authorities investigate Central Florida grocery store robberies

Alberstons, Aldi robberies are connected, authorities say

ORLANDO, Fla. – Authorities have released surveillance video on Monday in a Central Florida grocery store robbery over the holiday weekend.

The culprit first robbed the Aldi in Kissimmee Wednesday night by handing the manager a note saying he had accomplices in the store and demanded money from the safe. The man then showed the manager a handgun that was concealed in his jacket, before taking off with cash from the safe.

Investigators said the store was filled with customers doing pre-Thanksgiving shopping, yet many were unaware the store had been robbed.

Police said another robbery was reported at an Alberstons in Altamonte Springs Sunday night. Authorities say the culprit walked into the grocery store with shoppers inside, forced a manager to open the safe at gunpoint and robbed the store.

The surveillance video in the Albertsons robbery has not yet been released. Police say it shows portions of the armed robbery, but does not show the robber's face.

Deputies released a sketch in the Osceola County robbery that has a similar description as the Seminole County robbery. Police said they are "confident" they are looking for the same suspect in both robberies.

Deputies say the Aldi video shows the suspect walking distinctively. They'll look for that feature in the Albertsons robbery once they view the video.
