Authorities investigate police-involved shooting in Ocoee

Police: Homeowner came to door with gun in hand

OCOEE, Fla. – Authorities are investigating a police-involved shooting that happened early Saturday morning, the Ocoee Police Department said.

Officers responded at 12:55 a.m. Saturday to the 400 block of Belhaven Falls Drive for a call about a disturbance.

Police said a homeowner came to the door with a gun in hand. There wasn't a physical fight or an exchange of gunfire.

The homeowner heard someone say "gun," and shots were fired into the home, according to police.

A man, a woman and a 12-year-old boy were inside the home at the time, police said. No one was injured.

News 6 went to the home to speak to the homeowner, but he did not want to talk. The front door is boarded up and there is a sign that says, "Door damaged by Ocoee Police."

Neighbors told News 6 they heard officers responded to the wrong home. Ocoee police said they doesn't know if that happened, adding the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will look into that during its investigation.

Ocoee police identified the two officers involved as Carlos Anglero and Stephanie Roberts. They are described as experienced officers. Both are currently on paid administrative leave.

Ocoee Police Chief Charles Brown released a statement to News 6, saying that the FDLE agents will determine what events led to officers being dispatched to the home and "why the encounter at the address resulted in these officers firing into the home."

"... Once the investigation is concluded, and I have been provided with all the facts, I will take appropriate action," Brown added.
