Baby Jet arrives in Central Florida

Baby was born midflight in December en route to Orlando

After spending a month and a half in Charleston, South Carolina, baby Jet has returned home to Central Florida.

Jet was born 14 weeks early on Dec. 4 on an Orlando-bound Southwest Airlines flight.

The flight, which took off in Pennsylvania, had to make an emergency landing in Charleston when Jet's mother went into labor.

After spending weeks in the Medical University of South Carolina’s neonatal intensive care unit, Jet is back in Central Florida.

Jet’s family’s shared photos with News 6.

He is now recovering at Nemours Children’s Hospital. The family arrived in town on Thursday.

News 6 reporter Jennifer Ortega spoke to Jet’s aunt, Lisa Barber, who said his lungs are getting stronger.
He now weighs nearly 4 pounds.

The family said they’ll continue to post updates of Jet’s progress on their GoFundMe page, which has raised over $11,000.

The most recent donation came in a few hours before Monday’s 11 p.m. newscast.

The family told Ortega that they do not know how long Jet will be in the hospital, but doctors said he is expected to be in the hospital until his due date in the first week of March.
