Beach Patrol investigates needles washing ashore in Ormond Beach

Hazardous materials investigates needles

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona Beach Patrol officials are investigating how needles washed ashore on Friday afternoon in Ormond Beach.

Beach Patrol said the needles were spotted Friday afternoon by a beachgoer near the Harvard Beach Approach North, who alerted lifeguards. The needles were put in a hazardous materials bucket.

No injuries were reported and no other information was immediately available. Beach Patrol officials say a "few" needles washed ashore.

The incident is still under investigation.
