TITUSVILLE, Fla. – A train stopped suddenly to avoid a bicyclist crossing railroad tracks in Titusville, causing a derailment blocks away.
The cyclist ignored the railroad crossing gates on Garden Street, forcing the operator of a southbound freight train to hit the brakes. A chain reaction decoupled a car near Sycamore Street, according to Titusville Fire & Emergency Services.
The incident happened about 7:25 p.m. Tuesday and the train blocked Sycamore, Garden, Main and South streets.
There were no injuries reported.
