MELBOURNE, Fla. – A 27-year-old man struck by a car while riding his bicycle in Melbourne has died of his injuries, police said.
Denzel White, of Melbourne, was hospitalized after the crash, which occurred Sunday near Wickham and Lake Washington roads. Police said on Tuesday that White died a day after the crash.

The driver of the Honda Accord, Dustin Barger, was accused of fleeing the scene after the crash. Police said witnesses followed Barger and detained him in the Caribbean Isle apartment complex nearby until officers arrived.
Barger was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving injury. That charge, however, will likely be upgraded because of White's death.
