Bite from 'unidentified sea creature' in Indian River sends child to hospital

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A 10-year-old bitten on the ankle by an unidentified sea creature in the Indian River Monday afternoon was treated by paramedics and taken to a nearby hospital, News 6 partner Florida Today reports.

The incident happened about noon at Long Point Park which sits just north of the Sebastian Inlet.

Other witnesses at the park described the injury as two-small pin prick-type scrapes. 

“He came out of the water with the bite to the ankle,” said Don Walker, spokesman for Brevard County Fire Rescue.

The child was quickly treated at the scene by Brevard County Fire Rescue paramedics.
