Boy, 15, arrested in gang-style attack in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 15-year-old boy was arrested in Daytona Beach in connection with the gang-style beating of another teen after the incident was posted on Facebook, according to police.

The teen, whose name is being withheld because of his age, was arrested Friday on charges of aggravated battery.  According to police, he attends Spruce Creek High School.

Daytona Beach police said the victim was riding his bicycle when a teen knocked him off it and stole the bike.

Police said about five others chased the victim onto the porch of a home, where he was cornered and beaten.  The victim was punched, kicked and stomped on and suffered a concussion, a busted lip and a laceration atop his head, according to police. 

Two of the culprits recorded the attack on their cellphones, and the beating was posted on Facebook, said police, who added that the victim's mother obtained the video and provided it to authorities.

A probation officer identified one of the assailants, who was later arrested.

Daytona Beach police said the attack was consistent with a gang-style beating.
