DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The boyfriend of a woman found dead inside a Daytona Beach house is being sought as a suspect on first degree murder charges, police say.
Daytona Beach police have issued an alert for Thomas L. Tomkiewicz, 56, after performing a well-being check around 6 p.m. Thursday for a woman at a home on Vermont Avenue.
The woman, who is in her late 50s, was last seen Saturday.
Deputies issued an active warrant on Friday afternoon for Tomkiewicz on charges of first-degree murder and grand theft of a motor vehicle.
Police said a faint odor was emitting from the home and when officers entered the house, the woman was found dead in a bed with a sheet covering her body. Police termed her death as suspicious.
Police are looking for the woman's car, described as a white four-door 1999 Toyota bearing Florida license plate J74-OHM.
Police said Tomkiewicz was seen leaving the house Thursday driving her car. He was described as a white man in his late 50s, 6 feet 3 inches tall, 160 pounds, with white shaggy hair. Police said he usually wears a baseball cap.
Tomkiewicz told neighbors that the woman had left town because it was unusual for him to be driving her car.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Daytona Beach police.
