MELBOURNE, Fla. -

The Brevard Zoo is celebrating an addition to their family: a female baby klipspringer, according to a Brevard Zoo news release.

The 2-pound baby calf was born to mother, Vera, and father, Marley, on Father's Day despite the obstacles Vera has faced. In May 2013, at 1 1/2 years old, Vera underwent extensive treatment due to an injured back leg, which eventually led to amputation.

Despite only having three legs, Marley accepted Vera. The zoo feared Marley would not accept Vera due to natural instinct of wild animals to shy away from others that may draw attention from predators.

The trio will be on exhibit in a few weeks, according to a news release.
