Broward County school wants a dress code for parents dropping kids off for school

Issues include sagging pants, pajamas, hair curlers, board members say

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A Broward County school board member is pushing for parents dropping off kids at schools to abide by a dress code.

The discussion surfaced by Dr. Rosalind Osgood, a school board member, over whether or not parents should have to meet a dress code when they drop their kids off at school.

Osgood told the Sun-Sentinel she believes that the way the students parents dress will affect the way the student dresses.

"We have dads showing up in sagging pants," Osgood said, according to an April 3 Sun Sentinel report. "It's hard for me to tell a child not to show up for school with hair curlers, pajamas or short shorts if they see parents wearing them. Parents need to lead by example."

The chances of a dress code actually being enforced on parents are slim to none, the Sun-Sentinel reports, but it is causing quite a controversy for Boyd Anderson High.
