VIERA, Fla. -

Brevard County firefighters have contained a brush fire that was burning near homes in Viera.

The Florida Forest Service placed plow lines around the blaze to keep it contained, according to tweets from Brevard fire officials.

The fire broke out Tuesday morning between Heron's Landing and Auburn Lakes, Brevard fire officials tweeted.

Officials said the fire scorched about 15 acres and was within 100 feet of some homes.  Winds, however, were pushing the blaze away from the houses.

No structures were affected by the fire and its cause is undetermined.

No injuries have been reported.
