Brush fire contained in Volusia County

Firefighters continue to monitor fire with winds

PORT ORANGE, Fla. - Authorities have contained a brush fire on Tuesday that ignited in Port Orange, dangerously near a neighborhood full of homes.

The brush fire was burning at 4 acres on Josianne Court, according to Port Orange fire officials.

"These flames are always so unpredictable when the winds come up," said homeowner Melanie Stase.

No evacuations were ordered. Five different agencies responded to the fire and officials say the fire is contained but they will continue to monitor the area because of the high winds.

A fire weather watch was issued from the National Weather Service in Volusia County and fire weather warnings were issued in Flagler, Marion and Osceola counties. Click here for more.
