BubbleBum booster seat to hit Walmart stores nationwide

Inflatable booster seat weighs in at 1 pound

NEW YORK – An inflatable booster seat will soon stock Walmart shelves in 2,007 locations across the nation.

The seat, coined BubbleBum, weighs in at just one pound, and was developed specifically for children aged 4 to 11. Grianne Kelly, founder of BubbleBum and mother of two, said that she came up with the idea with comfort and convenience in mind.

"We are more than delighted to be launching at such a notable retailer who has made it their corporate goal to support women-owned businesses." BubbleBum Founder Grainne Kelly said in a release from BubbleBum. "We hope to make BubbleBum easily available to anyone who often travels with children and wants to ensure their safety. We are excited that Wal-Mart is part of our journey in launching into the States."

Deflated, the seat is designed to fit into purses, glove boxes and backpacks, according to the release, but its primary function is safety.

The seat was the recent winner of the 2013 SheKnows Parenting Awards, 2013 Family Review Center Best of the Year Award and IIHS Best Bet Booster, and its design ensures that the seat belt is placed low across the child's lap, away from the abdomen and soft tissue.

The booster seat, which is marketed toward children between 40-100 pounds, is available both purple and black, and is slated to retail for $29.88 at Walmart locations. The seats are also available at bubblebum.us for $29.99.
