Bulletproof blankets would protect students in shootings, company claims

ProTecht says blanket can withstand objects up to 200 mph

In the wake of another school shooting, a company is offering a new form of protection for students.

The Bodyguard Blanket, created by ProTecht, is a bulletproof, rectangle-shaped material that students can wear over their backs in the event of a tragedy.

The company claims the blanket can withstand objects moving up to 200 miles per hour.

The blanket, which consists of pads used by the military, costs just under $1,000.

There's no word on whether any schools are currently using them.

On Tuesday, an Oregon high school student shot and killed a classmate before apparently taking his own life.
