Burger King to debut new 'Fry Burger'

Burger King to offer $1 burger with fries on it

NEW YORK – Take four french fries and put them on top of a hamburger. That's it: The French Fry Burger. That's Burger King's new menu item scheduled to debut on Sept. 1 and be offered through the rest of the fall.

The new burger will only cost a buck, and The Huffington Post is reporting that Burger King developed this special new recipe to fend off competition from McDonald's. The golden arches have been aggressively pushing their dollar menu, putting the pressure on Burger King to offer more for less.

Burger King said that first quarter sales in stores that have been open for more than one year slipped by half a percent in 2013. The idea for the Fry Burger is to utilize existing ingredients in order to limit Burger King's investment while also using the novel new recipe to attract customers.
