Burglar found asleep on Lady Lake woman's couch, police say
Domonique Pinkard arrested on burglary charges
A man was awakened by police officers arresting him after he fell asleep on the couch of a Lake County home that he had burglarized with another man, police said.
Domonique Pinkard, 21, of Lady Lake, was arrested Sunday morning on burglary charges.
According to Lady Lake police, a woman called authorities around 7:30 a.m. to report that the back door of her home on Winners Circle had been kicked in and clothing, jewelry and electronic devices were stolen.
Officers went to the home and found Pinkard asleep on the woman's couch with her jewelry in his possession, police said.
Police said an investigation led them to a nearby home, where Julian Evangelist, 20, of Lady Lake, was also arrested on burglary charges.
The remaining stolen property was recovered at the home where Evangelist was arrested, police said.
Pinkard told police that he sat on the victim’s couch while Evangelist carried her TV out of her house. Pinkard then said he fell asleep.
According to Lady Lake police, Evangelist apparently chose not to wake Pinkard, but left with the victim’s TV instead.
Both suspects were transported to the Lake County Jail without incident.
