Cady Way memorial honoring teens vandalized

Nic Presha, Jeremy Stewart found along trail in April

WINTER PARK, Fla. – A memorial in honor of two teens who were found dead along the Cady Way Trail in Winter Park has been vandalized.

Vandals spray-painted two benches at the memorial for Nic Presha and Jeremy Stewart, who were shot to death and found burning along the trail in April.

County workers inspected the damage Tuesday and said they will attempt to restore the memorial by Wednesday. The benches were put up two months ago in honor of the teens and residents who walk the trail frequently tell Local 6 graffiti is a problem along the whole trail.

"I think they should keep it clean, and have somebody patrol it, at least once or twice a day, just to make their presence known," said Joyce Blue, a Winter Park resident. "I think that would be a huge deterrent to a lot of things."

Jesse Davis pleaded guilty in the teens' deaths earlier this month and was sentenced to life in prison.  Hector Rodriguez, also charged in the deaths, is awaiting trial.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
