California law could end Shamu show at SeaWorld San Diego

Lawmaker to introduce bill to end performances by orca whales

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The famed Shamu show at a SeaWorld park in California could come to an end if a lawmaker's proposed bill passes.

The bill being introduced on Friday would end all performances by killer whales at the state's entertainment parks--SeaWorld San Diego.

If the bill passes, the orcas already in captivity would have to be retired from performing, but could still be on display for the public to view.

The lawmaker said he felt compelled to draft the legislation after watching the controversial documentary, "Blackfish."
