FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -

A car careened into the swimming pool of a Fort Lauderdale hotel on Wednesday, leaving guests at the Ocean Mile Inn stunned.

Surveillance cameras at the hotel captured a Toyota Camry traveling the wrong way on A1A shortly before noon. In seconds, it careened into the hotel's parking lot and struck the rental car of guest Sarah Ahlstrom.

Ahlstrom said she was inside her room when she heard what she thought was an explosion. She walked outside to see her rented Chevy Cruze bobbing up and down in the swimming pool.

The owner of the Ocean Mile called 911.

Ahlstrom took photos of paramedics treating the female driver of the Camry, who was transported to an area hospital. Guests said they were relieved that no one was on the pool deck when the crash happened.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
