News 6 partner Florida Today reports that the pursuit was initiated by Melbourne police, they say, and the vehicle had been stolen from Rockledge on March 23.

The Indian Harbour Beach Police Department says they began to participate in the chase as the vehicle drove northbound on S. Patrick Drive, where they assumed command of the chase. Police there pursued the suspects northbound as they crashed through the south gate of Patrick Air Force Base.

The three suspects were found in a dumpster shortly after crashing through the gate.

They face charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding law enforcement officers and resisting arrest without violence along with possession of marijuana under 2 grams.

The trio faces additional charges from the Melbourne Police Department and Patrick Air Force Base.
