Carjacker fires shots at Seminole County deputies after shooting man

Father shot in leg at Casselberry home

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – Authorities in Seminole County are searching for a gunman who fired shots at deputies after shooting a man during a carjacking.

The carjacking occurred around 1:30 a.m. as a 52-year-old man and his 22-year-old son were getting out of their car at a home on Dewdrop Cove in Casselberry.  The father was shot in the leg during the carjacking and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

Seminole County deputies said the stolen car was spotted near Newbury Avenue in Altamonte Springs, and the gunman ran off and fired shots at deputies.

Deputies released the 911 calls, in which the victim's father describes the carjacking.

"We got out of car and somebody said give them the keys and shot him in the leg," the son told dispatchers.

No deputies were injured.

An extensive search for the gunman failed to locate the gunman.

A detailed description of the man was not known.
