PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. - The Carnival Dream is back in Central Florida as the Coast Guard investigates its issues, and the cruise ship will head back to sea this weekend.
The Dream pulled in at Port Canaveral late Tuesday night with just the crew on board.
The ship will undergo repairs to a broken emergency generator. Carnival said on Wednesday that a seven-day voyage scheduled to depart on Saturday will proceed as scheduled.
The 4,000 passengers on the ship's last voyage were flown home from Saint Maarten late last week.
Local 6 was on the island after Carnival decided it didn't want to risk sailing home with passengers aboard.
The Coast Guard said Tuesday it now plans on investigating the mechanical problem that cut short the trip.
Meantime, Carnival canceled 10 more cruises on the Triumph. A fire on board the ship left thousands stranded in the Gulf of Mexico in February.
