Charges against the man accused of setting a fire that killed a woman and two children have been downgraded to second-degree murder, according to the state attorney's office.

LaRunne Richardson was arrested last month on three counts of first-degree murder in the death of Carlans Fils-Aime and her two nephews, Jacques and Samuel Gustave.

Investigators say Richardson and the victims were inside of an apartment at the Misty Oaks Apartment Complex in west Orange County in March when the fire swept through the home, killing Fils-Aime and the children.

Richardson made it out of the fire alive and suffered burns.

The Orange County Jail's website lists Richardson's charges as second-degree murder on Thursday.

The state attorney's office said based on information, second-degree murder charges were filed.

Richardson remains in jail.
