Child going to school allegedly approached by men, Ormond Beach police say

Men tried to lure child toward their vehicle, police say

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Ormond Beach police are investigating after receiving a report that two suspicious people approached a child going to school Monday morning shortly after 7 a.m.

Police said the child riding a bicycle on North Ridgewood Avenue toward a local middle school when two men allegedly tried to lure the child toward their vehicle.

The child did not approach the men. Police said the child continued riding toward the school.

The child was allegedly followed by the men until the child approached the area of the school. Police said that's when the men turned around and left the area.

The child attended school and returned home safely after classes ended Monday, police said. The incident was reported to the police department at 3:56 p.m. Monday.

The men were described by police as two light skinned white men, 40 to 45 years old with short, shaved hair or bald and not wearing shirts. Their vehicle is described as an older single-cab truck, light blue in color. When shown possible truck models the child pointed to a 1990 Ford F-150 style truck or similar to that type of vehicle, police said.
