Police take 3 intruders into custody

SANFORD, Fla. – Three children hid in a closet and called 911 during a Sanford home invasion, leading to the arrest of three men, police said.

The incident occurred Wednesday morning at a home on Fairfield Drive off Celery Avenue.

According to police, three intruders broke into the home by smashing a sliding-glass door.

The children -- ages 15, 13 and 6 -- hid in a closet and the oldest called 911, police said.

Police arrived at the home and took one of the culprits into custody.  The other two fled into some nearby woods but were later arrested after a sheriff's helicopter and a K-9 located them.

The children were not injured.

No other details were released.
