Clermont man stuffs fishing reel into pants in attempted Wal-Mart theft, police say

Reel was worth nearly $100

SANFORD, Fla. – Sanford police snagged a Clermont man on Wednesday who they say tried to steal a fishing reel from a Wal-Mart after he hid the item in his underwear.

A store associate told police he saw John Zentmeyer, 27, stuffing a reel worth nearly $100 into his pants and then trying to leave the store.

Police responded to the Wal-Mart on South Orlando Drive in Sanford and stopped Zentmeyer before he left the store.

Zentmeyer was taken to Seminole County Jail and charged with petty theft. His bond was set at $301.50.
