COCOA BEACH, Fla. – Cocoa Beach's deputy fire chief was fired on Wednesday after he accepted $100 from a resident that was intended to buy a crew a thank-you dinner, Local 6 news partner Florida Today reports.
Deputy Fire Chief Guy "G.C." Wine was fired on Wednesday after the Sept. 1 incident, City Manager Chuck Billias wrote in a termination letter.
Wine was placed on paid administrative leave last week during an internal investigation. He was hired by the department in May 2005. He earned $70,866 per year.
