Cocoa Beach mulls plans to bring business to coast

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – Cocoa Beach city commissioners are considering  multiple plans aimed to bring business to the beach at a council meeting on Wednesday.

"Some of the things that have been tossed around perhaps a boardwalk out here for a few blocks, maybe that converts into a beach walk that converts into the beach," said Cocoa Beach Mayor Dave Netterstrom. "A municipal fishing pier is what we've talked about maybe, perhaps, a beach destination resort experience."

Netterstrom said they want to narrow down the ideas and hash out a formal presentation before figuring out funding.

"Whether it be joint venture with the private sector, perhaps bed tax money, might be out there," Netterstrom said.

Christina Artz with Coconuts on the Beach said it'd be good for business to bring other attractions to the coast.

"To have something else attract people down to Cocoa Beach would be awesome," Artz said.
