Computerized composite sketch technology helps Titusville police arrest aggravated battery suspect

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Titusville police detectives identified and arrested a man suspected of aggravated battery and armed robbery by using a computerized composite sketch resource, known as FaceLogics, according to a news release from Titusville police.

According to the report, Titusville police reported last Thursday that a male victim was dragged from his vehicle, beaten with a piece of 2-by-4 lumber and robbed of his cellphone in the area of 4th Avenue by an unknown man.

With the help of FaceLogics technology, the victim was able to give investigators the man's physical information and a computerized rendition of the attacker was produced.

Officers then used the composite sketch to identify a possible suspect. Witnesses were then able to positively identify that suspect as the person who committed the battery on the victim.

According to the release, Jermaine Shawnta Evans, 29, of Orlando, was arrested on Wednesday without incident and charged with four felonies; aggravated battery, robbery with a firearm, grand theft and burglary.

Evans is a convicted violent felon and was on federal probation at the time of his arrest. He was booked into the Brevard County Jail and is being held on a $265,000 bond.
