Cop-involved shooting in Lady Lake leaves 1 dead

Deputies investigate shooting in mobile home park

LADY LAKE, Fla. – Lake County deputies are investigating a shooting in Lady Lake where one person has died.

Deputies arrived after 12:50 p.m. Saturday to the Lady Lake Mobile Home Park at 2934 Griffin View Drive after receiving multiple calls of a man threatening suicide and holding a gun to his head.

Three deputies responded to the initial call. Deputies said the man, identified as 54-year-old Harold F. Roudebush, was found holding the handgun under his chin. He reportedly pulled the trigger but it did not go off.

Roudebush then worked the action on the handgun, which would load a round in the chamber. Officials said he leveled the handgun at the deputies at the scene, which resulted in the use of deadly force.

Roudebush was pronounced dead at the scene. No deputies were injured.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrived to investigate. The Lake County Sheriff's Office said it is standard procedure for deputies who discharge their firearm in the line of duty to be placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
