LAKE COUNTY, Fla. - An arrest warrant with a bond of $3 million has been issued for a man wanted on a charge of sexual battery of a child under the age of 12, Lake County deputies said.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office is searching for Terrance Lee Goodman, 37, who was believed to be -- and may possibly still be -- in the wooded areas in the north side of the county.
The Sheriff's Office said Goodman used zip ties to restrain the girl, with whom he is acquainted, while the pair was walking through a wooded area to get to a home.
The victim told deputies Goodman put her in a sleeper hold-like position and threatened her. She told deputies he then took off the zip ties and sexually battered her.
"I had her walk me out to the woods because she said her clothes were still in the woods. She showed me the spot. I took a picture of the clothes with my phone and called authorities," the victim's mother told Local 6.
The mother said Goodman was a friend and she trusted him with her 9-year-old daughter.
Goodman told the girl he was sorry and he was a "big jerk," and then acknowledged that she would tell her parents and said he was going to kill himself before leaving in his car, the victim told deputies.
Goodman was described as a white man about 5 feet 11 inches tall. He is possibly driving a 1987 brown Jeep Comanche with a black tool box in the back and the Florida tag of ADZ R20.
Anyone with knowledge of Goodman?s whereabouts is urged to avoid approaching him and contact law enforcement officials or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
