DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 76-year-old Daytona Beach man was arrested on allegations of exposing and touching himself after a woman riding a bike said she saw him standing naked in his living room and watching her.
James Sweet was arrested Monday on a charge of indecent exposure. He also faces charges of violating probation for a similar case in 2013 in which he was accused of exposing himself in front of two children on a fishing dock in Ormond Beach, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the 21-year-old woman was riding her bike on Thursday when she saw the naked man through a window.
The woman's father called 911 to report the incident.
"My daughter rides her bike around the neighborhood and the guy ... was flashing her and p****** with himself in the main window," the caller said. "This is the second time because I had another neighbor tell me about two weeks ago and I didn't think nothing of it. I figured he wouldn't do it again, but he did it again."
The caller also said the man lives across the street from a family with small children.
The woman later identified Sweet in a photo lineup, and investigators confirmed that the home belonged to him, according to deputies.
As a condition of probation, Sweet was required to wear an ankle monitor, and the GPS device confirmed that he was at the house at the time of last week's incident, deputies said.
Sweet is a sex offender according to the FDLE sexual offender website. Sweet was convicted of lewd and lascivious behavior back in 2015.
"It doesn't sit well at all," said Andrea Sylvester
Sylvester has lived down the street from Sweet for the last 10 years.
"It really concerns me because I have children here and grandchildren here and I had no idea what was going on," she said.
Sweet was already on probation from a 2013 case where deputies said he exposed himself to two teens on a fishing dock in Ormond Beach. Now, that he's violated his probation, Sweet is being held without bond.
Sylvester said he hopes Sweet stays in jail for good.
"If they keep letting him out, then they're actually telling him it's okay to do this," she said.
