Cops search for suspect after man attacked near Cocoa restaurant

Driver may have attacked man after accident, deputies say

COCOA, Fla. – Police are searching for a driver suspected of pummeling a man unconscious following an accident near KFC Restaurant in Cocoa.

Local 6 news partner Florida Today reports that sheriff's deputies were called around 3 p.m. after a witness spotted a man stomping and punching an older man in a nearby parking lot.

The attacker fled the scene in a blue Chevy, and deputies are still searching the area. No arrests have been made.

The unidentified victim was found lying on the pavement near the 6100 block of U.S. 1, and was badly bleeding and unconscious. He was treated by Brevard County Fire Rescue crews.

The victim was then transported to Wuesthoff Medical Center-Rockledge.

Deputies are looking into whether the attack could have involved a vehicle accident moments before the confrontation.
