County commissioners reject Orange County relief school site

Homeowners oppose plan between school board, commissioners

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – The Orange County School Board will go back to the drawing board after county commissioners rejected the location of a planned relief high school.

The school board and the county had agreed April 7 to build a west Orange County relief high school on County Road 535 and Ficquette Road.

However, for the second time, commissioners voted down the location after hearing from homeowners who opposed the plan at Tuesday's meeting.

The school district said the relief school is needed to deal with a growing student population.

It's not clear if they will take legal action against the county.
