FHP: Driver rushing to hospital before crash

The fatal crash happened Tuesday night on Hoffner Avenue near La Belle Street in Orange County.

According to troopers, 63-year-old Carl Sala sideswiped a Toyota Corolla but continued traveling and later flipped the car, which crashed into the wall.

"That's a solid block wall," said a witness who described the sound of the crash as a loud explosion.

Linda Sala, a passenger in the Camry, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center and later died.  Troopers said her husband, who was driving, survived the initial crash but died from his injuries Wednesday night.

Investigators believe Carl Sala was having medical complications from a procedure earlier in the day and was rushing back to Orlando Regional Medical Center when he was involved in the crash.

The FHP said there have been 20 fatal accidents in Central Florida in April, 10 of which occurred in Orange County.  Troopers urged motorists to drive carefully.
