Couple's truck stolen from Cocoa Beach Pier area on Mother's Day

Two handguns were inside vehicle

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orange County couple told News 6 that their truck was stolen Sunday while they celebrated Mother's Day at the Cocoa Beach Pier.

Greg and Sherri Jewer shared pictures of the vehicle on social media and asked for people to be on the lookout.

Also stolen were two handguns that were in the truck.

"I was shocked that (it happened in) broad daylight, right at the beach -- in between condominiums, which have no cameras, and then the pier parking lot," Greg Jewer said. "We are both licensed to carry (the guns). The reason we didn't have them on us (was) we did sit at the bar to eat lunch, so we followed the law and left them in the vehicle and the vehicle was locked."

The couple called 911 and said they filed a stolen vehicle report.

"I don't want them to be used in a crime and hurt another individual," Jewer said.

About an hour after the truck disappeared, the couple said their bank called to notify them that someone had tried to use their credit card at an Orlando gas station.

News 6 spoke to an employee at the gas station who said the business has yet to review the surveillance video from Sunday.
