Crews battle Belleview house fire, MCFR says

Fire breaks out on SE 121st Place

BELLEVIEW, Fla. – Crews worked Saturday afternoon to put out a house fire in Belleview, Marion County Fire Rescue personnel said.

Units were dispatched at 3:45 p.m. to the fire in the 6200 block of SE 121st Place.

Officials said a 911 caller reported heavy smoke and flames were coming from the neighbor's house with several explosions being heard from vehicles near the house.

The male occupant of the home was able to get out of the house on his own, officials said. A search of the home was completed with no one found.

Officials said the structural integrity of the roof had been compromised.

Firefighters battled the flames fueled by the heavy winds in the area. Officials said the fire was called under control at 5:32 p.m.

In total, 41 firefighters and 16 suppression units were dedicated to the fire. Officials said one firefighter was taken to a hospital to be evaluated for a minor injury.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Florida fire marshal's office, officials said.
