COLEMAN, Fla. – Crews worked to put out a fire that broke out at a mobile home in Sumter County.
Sumter County Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel received a call at 3:45 p.m. Thursday about a residential structure fire in Coleman.
Fire officials said heavy flames and smoke could be seen from the single-wide mobile home.
Access to the property was hindered because of a live power line being down across the driveway. Sumter County Fire officials said crews had to be creative with their attack lines and access to the property, which delayed their initial fire attack.
Additional crews worked through extreme heat conditions to extinguish the fire and safely overhaul the remnants, officials said.
The fire was determined to be accidental and the structure was a total loss. Officials said there were no firefighter or civilian injuries.
The occupants of the home were being assisted by the American Red Cross and the Florida Firefighters Benevolent Association, officials said.
