Three people were inside the home at the time of the shooting.

A 36-year old male suffered gunshot wounds to his stomach and has died, GPD said.

He was holding an infant girl at the time who had been shot in the arm.

One other man suffered a gunshot wound to his arm. He and the infant were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and are expected to be okay, GPD said.

The shooters fled from the scene before police arrived and have not been identified. Police said the home looks like it was targeted.

A neighbor told News4Jax the people in the house have only been living there for a couple of months.

Investigators are working different leads to try to determine their identity and location. K-9 units and a helicopter was used to look for them. Officials do not believe they are in the area.

Residents have been advised to stay in their homes for safety as Gainesville police search the area.

Tina Thomas lives in the Gainesville area. "I feel a little unsafe, if they shot an infant, they have no heart and don't care," she said.

GPD will be briefing the press at 11 a.m.
