Crimeline reward offered for Avalon Park attempted abductor

Man tried to pull girl off her bicycle, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Crimeline is offering a $1,000 reward for information about a man Orange County detectives said tried to abduct an 11-year-old girl Saturday in Avalon Park.

Orange County Sheriff's Office said two 11-year-old girls were riding their bikes after leaving CVS north on Avalon Park Boulevard near Tanja King Boulevard and were close to Publix and the dog park when a man tried to pull one of the girls off her bike by grabbing her right shoulder.

The victim was able to get away. Authorities said both girls continued riding north on Avalon Park East Boulevard until they reached Golden Rain Tree Boulevard, where they stopped.

Ten minutes later, the girls observed the same man walking towards them on Golden Rain Tree Boulevard, authorities said. At that time, the girls rode away and lost sight of him.

The father of the 11-year-old girl, whom News 6 has chosen not to identify, said his daughter and her friend were at CVS to buy candy.

According to the report, the victim told police that the man did not say anything to her after his attempt to pull her from her bicycle, and her friend was able to help her by pulling her other shoulder. The two girls rode away.

The man is described as a white male with tan skin and between 35-45 years old. He has short dark hair and some facial hair, deputies said. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a baggy gray T-shirt with baggy dark pants.

Detectives said the man appeared unsteady on his feet as he walked.
