Day care under investigation after van crash

Florida Highway Patrol says woman had suspended license

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando day care is under investigation after a van full of children crashed into a tree.

"It could have been one of my kids," said Jessenia Colon as she was picking up her children from A Children's Palace Learning Center on North Pine Hills Road.

The Department of Children and Families is investigating the day care after one of their drivers crashed a 15-passenger van full of kids into a tree on Monday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman who was transporting the children had an expired license, and the children were unrestrained. Her license was previously suspended, according to authorities.

Troopers told Local 6 one of the toddlers was taken to a hospital with a serious head injury.

"I had considered my kids riding the van, but I have to talk to the owner," said Tonya Flucker.

Local 6 tried contacting the owner of the day care, Iya East, at her last known address, but got no response.
