Daytona Beach considers easing marijuana laws

Several Central Florida counties might also change rules

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Another Central Florida city says it is considering making major changes when it comes to how it handles people caught in possession of marijuana.

According to the News-Journal, city commissioners decided Wednesday night to move forward with a plan that would give officers the option of issuing a fine to anyone caught with less than 20 grams of pot.

The first vote on the potential change is scheduled for May 18 with a final vote set for early June.

The city of Orlando, along with Brevard, Flagler and Volusia counties, either have or are considering similar measures.
