DAYTONA, Fla. -

Daytona Beach dog owners will have a new place to let their four-legged friends play leash-free.

The Halifax Humane Society just purchased 3 acres of land on LPGA Boulevard off of Interstate 95 to create a dog park, boarding house and grooming facility.

The organization was approved for a $400,000 Environmental, Cultural, Historic and Outdoors grant and is now waiting for the county to give final approval before building. The county is slated to vote in the next few weeks.

The boarding house and groomers will be open to cats and dogs alike, and the new facility as a whole will be open to travelers and residents of the Daytona Beach area.
