DBPD: Woman arrested, accused of striking vehicle, motorcycle while driving drunk

Woman, 49, faces five counts of DUI, police say

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Daytona Beach police arrested a woman accused of striking a motorcycle and another vehicle Friday night, police said.

Police said dispatch advised them of a reckless driver in a pickup truck heading south on Atlantic Avenue from Main Street around 9:30 p.m.

Officers responded to the area and saw the truck traveling south on Atlantic Avenue from Harvey Avenue, police said. 

Police said the driver of the truck was later identified as Tina Byrd, 49, who police said struck another vehicle and a motorcycle with two riders on it. 

Both motorcyclists were ejected during the crash and suffered upper body and head injuries, police said. They were transported to Halifax Health as trauma alerts, Daytona Beach police said.

Byrd was arrested at the scene and faces charges on five counts of driving under the influence,  police said.

Police said the motorcyclists' injuries were non-life-threatening, and both riders are expected to recover.
