DCF investigating report of Orange County 2-year-old shooting self

Boy treated for non-life-threatening injuries, officials say

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Department of Children and Families is investigating a report of a 2-year-old Orange County boy apparently shooting and hurting himself.

DCF said they received the report of the self-inflicted gunshot wound on Tuesday and that the boy was receiving medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and DCF said it is working with law enforcement to "to better understand the circumstances of how the child sustained the injuries, as well as ensure the safety of another child who resides in the home."

DCF is asking all firearm owners to be responsible, to store weapons safely and use extra features in homes where children live.
