Delta flight diverted to Orlando for 'mechanical issue'

Flight was en route from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Delta flight that had departed from Fort Lauderdale on its way to Atlanta was diverted to Orlando International Airport Sunday for a "flap mechanical issue," OIA officials said.

Flight 1827 landed safely and no injuries were reported.

Officials said firefighters were deployed in the area as a precaution.

The passengers are awaiting another flight to Atlanta.
