Deputies arrest 'BBQ bandit' in Seminole County

Man caught stealing grill on surveillance video

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A man that Seminole County deputies dubbed the "BBQ bandit" was arrested yesterday on charges of dealing in stolen property and multiple counts of burglary.

Nathaniel Beckman, 33, of Longwood was arrested after investigators say he was caught on surveillance video stealing a Webber grill from a local business and loading it into his pick-up truck.

After checking records from a metal recycling center, deputies say they saw new surveillance footage that showed a truck matching the one in the video from the initial robbery.

Beckman gave his thumbprint and signed paperwork indicating his ownership of the grill to the recycling center, according to sheriff's office records.

Deputies said they then discovered the pick-up truck from the video was owned by Beckman and were able to arrest him on Monday. They also believe Beckman to be responsible for involved in copper piping and air conditioning units from Sanford businesses and homes.
