ORLANDO, Fla. - The suspect in the death of a woman shot and killed in an Orlando home invasion while her toddler and infant were nearby has been arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and will be facing murder charges, according to Orange County Sheriff's Office investigators.
John DeJesus, 28, was booked into the Orange County jail early Friday morning. He was previously arrested after the fatal shooting of his girlfriend on Wednesday on unrelated drug charges.
Jeff Williamson, spokesperson for the Orange County Sheriff's Office, told Local 6, DeJesus will be charged with the murder of his girlfriend, YolizMarie DeJesus Borrero, 22.
Borrero was shot in the head around 4:20 a.m. Wednesday at 3505 Millrace Court near Semoran Boulevard and Hoffner Avenue, according to the arrest affidavit.
DeJesus told investigators that three masked men kicked in the door of the home and shot Borrero.
However, investigators say that was a fabricated story.
DeJesus turned himself in Wednesday night on drug charges, including possession of cocaine and possession of cannabis. He later posted bond and was released.
Deputies say DeJesus is the only suspect in Borrero's death.
DeJesus has not been charged with the homicide, however, investigators say they are not looking for any suspects in relation to the homicide anymore.
Saturday, DeJesus bonded out of the Orange County jail while investigators continue to look into the possible homicide charges.
